NOTE: The controls used in this guide are based on the default button scheme, so whenever you change your controls, be sure to apply whichever ones you have changed while you are using this guide. Each command in the guide will always assume that you are facing right, so in the event that you face left instead, you should be sure to use instead of
.
There are three types of controls featured in Street Fighter 6, all of which are described as follows:
- Classic Controls: This is the classic Six-Button control style present in classic Street Fighter titles, so if you're coming from Street Fighter II or Street Fighter V, you will find yourself being comfortable with this playstyle.
- Modern Controls: A new control system that has three attack buttons (Light, Medium, and Heavy), a single button for Special Moves, and players can perform Super Arts by pressing the appropriate attack button and the special button at the same time (Light Special for Level 1, Medium Special for Level 2 and Heavy Special for Level 3)
- Dynamic Controls(Only available in theFighting Ground): Another new control system that is available offline. This allows players to play the game with the AI assisting them with attacks.

When creating a character upon entering either World Tour or the Battle Hub for the first time, you are greeted with the following options on how you want it to represent your own personal image in the game. Players can also share their creativity on their characters in the Battle Hub as a way of expressing themselves. A screenshot of the main character creation menu can be seen below.

Type
This is where players can choose the base of how they want their character to look, as well as how they want to be referred to. When selecting your body type, you have a choice between a Masculine or Feminine appearance, and for your character's identity, you have a choice on which gender you want your character to be referred to between the options of Male, Female, or Human. Additionally, their pronouns will vary depending on which gender you have selected.
Presets
In this submenu, players can choose between many of the different pre-defined presets they can choose from when creating their character or modifying it. You can also randomize between presets, but that is not recommended as you might not like which results you would get from the randomizer.
Avatar
This submenu is where players can change size proportions for their character's body by toggling the sliders for each one, whether they want their character to be tall or short, thin or thick, or even include body hair is up to the player. But be sure to choose your measurements wisely when toggling between the many options you have for size proportions.
Face
Another submenu that allows players to change many of the many aspects of their character's facial features, ranging from their main facial features, to their hair and even their eyes. Other features that can also be modified include their nose and facial hair. Size proportions can also be modified in the sliders for some facial features.
Body Features
This submenu allows players to add details to their character's body by choosing to add either Body Paint, Body Scars, or even a Body Mole. Players can also choose where they want to place these additional features as well as their color and/or size to whichever they feel will make their characters stand out more from the rest. It should be noted that there are four slots for players to use in this submenu.
Facial Features
Much like the previous submenu, except for features players want to add to their character's face. Options in this include Fixed/Customizable Face Paint, Face Scars, Face Makeup, or even Face Moles. You can have one Fixed and one Customizable Face Paint, and up to three Face Moles to your character's face at once, so be sure to choose wisely as you have seven slots to save in this submenu.
Color
Very self-explanatory. This submenu gives players the option to change the color of any previously added or modified features they've applied to their created character, such as their body color, hair color, and even facial hair color (when applicable) among others.
Voice
Another submenu that is self-explanatory. This is where players can change how they want their characters to sound when fighting in Avatar Battles in the Battle Hub or against civilians or thugs in World Tour. It should be noted that while they are silent for the most part, they do speak and/or grunt whenever they enter battle or use a Master Action while they aren't in a battle.
Recipe
The final submenu will allow players to double-check on which choices they've made when creating their character as well as whichever makeup they've applied. You can also save your finalized recipe by pressing to any one of the twelve slots in the Save/Load menu. You can also download other recipes players have created or upload your own, but keep in mind that you can only have up to three recipes uploaded to the game's servers. However, the number of slots can be increased to ten if you have purchased Additional Recipe Upload Slots from the game's Shop (information on how to access it can be found in Welcome to the Stable).
Once you are satisfied with how your character looks in the end, you will need to press to complete the character creation process and prepare to either hit the streets in World Tour or show your skills and take it to the ring in the Battle Hub. You can also display a copy of how your character looks by pressing
while in the character creation screen. An example of this can be seen below.

Once you have created your character, you are free to customize its gear, special moves, and super arts, but it is recommended to meet Chun-Li in Chapter 2-1 and learn some special moves from her once you've enrolled in having her as your master before you can do so. You can learn more about this in theCustomizing Your Charactersection ofin theWorld TourDLC guide. It is also recommended to play World Tour first as it will help you get the gist of some of the game's basics as well as strengthening your character for Avatar Battles in the Battle Hub (credit to vasilisaposto25 for the information provided here).
If you have started the PS4 version of the game beforehand, you can transfer your save to the PS5 version. This allows you to not only carry over your progress on each of the modes featured in the game, but you can also unlock the trophies assigned to some of them upon completing their assigned task at least once (such as fighting and winning a singleExtremeBattlematch in either the Battle Hub or Fighting Ground, gift an item to a master you've already reached max bond level with in World Tour, and complete a single combo trial in the Fighting Ground, to name a few).
It should be noted that this is not a full autopop, so be sure to keep that in mind when going for the PS5 version's platinum trophy after unlocking it for PS4 beforehand (Credit to Piro on the PSNProfiles forums for the information provided in this thread).
In addition to this, you can also find other guides in the Street Fighter series that are written by various guide writers across the site!
