Everything We Saw (and Loved) at Miami Swim Week (2024)

Even after 20 years of Paraiso’s Miami Swim Week, the swimwear remains hotter than ever. And the vibes? Still immaculate. From May 29 to June 2, the annual event showcased swim and resortwear designers, taking over Miami Beach to present their next collections full of fresh designs, colors and silhouettes. Many designers took inspiration from summer 2024 fashion trends (like boho-chic, for example), expertly translating the trends into warm-weather essentials for fashion and vacation enthusiasts. If you couldn’t catch a flight to Florida to take it all in, worry not—we broke down the top trends from the shows so you can see and shop them right here, just in time for summer.

Statement Scarves

Nothing says “free spirit” quite like a silk headscarf and your favorite pair of sunglasses, but, turns out, there are plenty of ways to wear a silk scarf. Take notes from Hunting Hue, which showed silk scarves both big and small, square and tie-shaped, on the runway. Scarves were accessorized as mini sarongs, but also as neck and wrist ties and even full cover-ups in some looks. Whichever way you decide to style it, it’s clear this is the must-have accessory of the season.

Chartreuse Crush

Gorgeous greens graced the runways at Miami Swim Week, with chartreuse being the standout hue. Paired with a glowy summertime tan, the olive tone is perfect for any vacation from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean.

Pretty in Pastels

Ladylike aesthetics, featured prominently in ready-to-wear collections, have made their foray into swim and resortwear, particularly in colorways. Sage green, butter yellow, baby blue, and light lavender will be mainstays come summer.

Get Sporty

The ’90s called, and contrast piping in swimwear is back. Sporty, sleek, and minimalist contrast piping doesn’t have to be devoid of color, expertly proven by Acacia’s terracotta-infused designs. But if you’re a purist, there are plenty of black-and-white options for you, too.

Easy Breezy

Some call it boho-chic, as we saw in Chloé’s latest collection, but with swim, the ’70s-inspired aesthetic becomes something else entirely. It’s not just a trend or a festival getup—it’s a carefree, laid-back way of life, complete with crochet, eyelets, and lots of white.

Back to Black

Sometimes, simplicity is the answer. That’s what we loved about the sleek black swimsuits at SHAN and Leslie Amon. Whether you prefer bikinis or one-piece maillots, you can’t go wrong with a little black swimsuit. Call it the LBS.

Fresh Florals

Nature-inspired pieces find new life in the emergence of new-age floral prints. Designers played with color combinations and painterly patterns to create unique, blooming designs that bring a fresh and, dare we say, fragrant take.

Perfectly Imperfect

Tan-lines aside, asymmetric silhouettes and cutouts will be a huge trend, at least for those willing to take the risk. As far as accessories go, we recommend plenty of SPF in all the right places.

Cool Crochet

Sipping a piña colada on an island in a crochet minidress is the vibe everyone craves for summer, no matter the place. Leave it to these Miami designers to serve up options that easily take you from beach to bar and everywhere in between for carefree summer fun.

Hot Pants

Another runway trend that made its way into swimwear? Hot pants. Perhaps more practical than the viral no-pants trend, hot pants in swimwear give you a classic ’50s or ’60s silhouette with modern twists. And if you dare to wear them as pants outside of the beach or pool, more power to you!

Space Age

Metallic swimwear can be tricky to style. Give it a ’60s twist and the right silhouette, though, and suddenly you have some wiggle room. SHAN and Chloé Rose struck the perfect balance with styles that are both fun and futuristic.

Ombré Elegance

Another pillar of the beachy, boho lifestyle, ombré is a pattern you might think is a given for resortwear, but these Miami designers made it their own with stellar sunset shades and matching two-piece sets. Chic and somehow sophisticated for resortwear, these pieces demand an out-of-office message.

Earth Tones

Earthy browns, clays, and nudes will be another favorite for the minimalist swim shopper. The shades highlight a wearer’s skin tone and are naturally and effortlessly gorgeous.

Boho Revival

Chevron, stripes, and trippy micro prints were popular, as the ’70s continue to experience a triumphant return. From Luli Fama to Acacia, brands got creative with patterns and colors.

Animal prints were everywhere this past season, and swimwear is certainly no exception. Sexy and playful, this trend is for the bold.
