Who Can Apply For An e-PAN Card?
To apply for an e-PAN card, you must fulfil the following criteria:
- You must be an Indian resident;
- You must be an Individual taxpayer (i.e. not a company or a HUF);
- You must not already hold a PAN;
- You must have an Aadhaar Card;
- You must have an active mobile phone number linked with your Aadhaar; and
- Your Aadhaar must have your updated and correct details
How To Apply For An e-PAN Card via NSDL
- Step 1: Visit the NSDL PAN online portal to apply for NEW PAN. Enter the details and click the 'Submit' button.
- Step 2: While making the application, select ‘No’ for the question ‘Whether Physical PAN Card is required?’. When the ‘No’ option is selected, the e-PAN will be sent to the applicant`s e-mail.
- Step 3: Provide all the details exactly as per your Aadhaar Card.
- Step 4: Once all the details have been entered, upload the documents and pay the required fees.
- Step 5: You will receive a acknowledgement number on your email ID or mobile number mentioned on your application. Once the e-PAN has been allotted, you will receive it directly on your email given in the application.
- Step 6: To check the status of your e-PAN application, follow the link and Check the Application Status by feeding in the acknowledgement number.
How To Apply For An e-PAN Card via UTIITSL
- Step 1: Visit the UTIITSL PAN online portal to apply for NEW PAN.
- Step 2: While making the application, the applicant has the option to choose between – (i) Both physical PAN Card and e-PAN; (ii) e-PAN only, No physical PAN Card will be dispatched.
The Physical PAN card will be delivered to the applicant`s address. The e-PAN will be sent to the applicant`s e-mail.
- Step 3: Provide all the details exactly as per your Aadhaar Card. The Aadhaar number is verified by UTIITSL immediately. Check the acknowledgement box and click on submit. Also submitting Aadhaar as Id proof is mandatory.
- Step 4: Once all the details have been entered, the process for application of e-PAN is initiated.
- Step 5: Post attaching the scanned copy of the documents, the electronic application is complete. You will receive a 15-digit acknowledgement number on your email ID or mobile number mentioned on your application. Once the e-PAN has been allotted, you will receive an alert by SMS or email.
- Step 6: To check the status of your e-PAN application, follow the link and Check the Application Status by feeding in the application coupon number.
How To Apply For Instant e-PAN Card via Income Tax e-Filing Portal
The citizen must be 18 years of age or above and must have an Aadhaar number to access this service. If you have not previously been allotted a PAN, you can avail of this service. To quickly apply for a PAN, you can visit the income tax e-filing portal and follow the instructions below:
- Step 1: Click on the ‘Get New PAN’ option.
- Step 2: Enter your Aadhaar number, tick the confirmation and click on ‘Continue’ button.
- Step 3: Read the terms and tick the ‘I have read the consent terms and agree to proceed further’ and click the ‘Continue’ button.
- Step 4: Enter the Aadhaar OTP received on your Aadhaar registered mobile number. Tick the agreement and click the ‘Continue’ button.
- Step 5: Your Aadhaar details will be displayed on the screen. Check the Aadhaar details, tick the acceptance and click the ‘Continue’ button.
- Step 6: An acknowledgement number will be displayed on the screen. You will also receive the acknowledgement number via SMS and email ID instantly.
How to Download e-PAN from the NSDL portal
To download your e-PAN card, follow these streamlined steps:
- Visit the e-PAN services website at NSDL.
- On the homepage, you'll find two options to proceed: using your "Acknowledgement Number" or your "PAN".
If you choose to use your PAN:
- Input your 10-digit alphanumeric PAN in the designated field.
- Add your Aadhaar number, date of birth, and optional GSTN. Enter the captcha code required for verification.
- Read the provided instructions carefully and agree to them by checking the acceptance box.
- Click the "Submit" button to process your request.
- Your e-PAN card will then be displayed on the screen in a PDF format.
Alternatively, if you are using your Acknowledgement Number:
- Enter the Acknowledgement Number provided during your PAN application, along with your date of birth and the captcha code.
- Click the "Submit" button to validate your details.
- Similar to the PAN option, your e-PAN will be displayed in a PDF format.
- To save a copy of your e-PAN, select the 'Download PDF' option
Download e-PAN from the UTILITS Portal
To download an e-PAN card from the UTIITSL Portal, follow these simple steps:
Go on the UTIITSL Portal and enter the required details:
- Your PAN Number.
- Your Date of Birth, or if applicable, the Date of Incorporation, Date of Agreement, Date of Partnership or Trust Deed, Date of Formation of Body of Individuals (BOI), or Date of Association of Persons (AOP), in the format MM/YYYY.
- Optional: Your GSTIN Number.
- Enter the Captcha for verification.
Once you have entered all the details, click on the ‘Submit’ button. After successful submission, a link will be sent to your registered mobile number and/or email address.
- Upon receiving the link, click on it to proceed. You will be prompted to enter an OTP sent to your mobile or email.
- Enter the OTP to authenticate and proceed to download your ePAN card directly from the link provided.
